The Dual Work of Grace: Redemptive and Enabling

• By Gideon Adegunle

Bible Reference: 2 Timothy 1: 9

Grace has a dual operation in the life of every believer.
It is through these operations that Christ reveals Himself—not to the world, but personally to those who believe. As Jesus Himself said, “I will manifest Myself to them, and not to the world.”

This manifestation is not a general display but a personal and intimate work of grace in the heart of the believer.

Every Christian must be spiritually aware and intentional about these two dimensions of grace:

  1. Redemptive Grace, which saves and restores,
  2. and Enabling Grace, which empowers and sustains.

Together, they reflect the full expression of Christ’s work in us.

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)

Redemptive Grace
Redemptive Grace is the first operation of grace that takes place the moment a person surrenders their life to God. Before this encounter, we were on the outside—spiritually distant, living in darkness, and separated from God. But through the redemptive work of Christ, and by accepting His sacrifice, we are brought near.

This grace translates us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son, and positions us to sit with Christ in heavenly places. It is through Redemptive Grace that we become partakers of the divine nature and members of God’s household.
What makes this operation of Grace potent is awareness and reflection.

Enabling Grace
Enabling Grace empowers believers to live out God’s will. It is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13).
Unlike Redemptive Grace, which brings us into God’s family, Enabling Grace strengthens us to walk with Him daily. It flows when we align with His Word and presence.

Many believers accept salvation but don’t press into the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16) to receive the mercy and help needed to grow spiritually. Enabling Grace is what helps us live out our faith beyond the initial encounter with Christ.

In Conclusion
Grace operates in two dimensions: Redemptive Grace makes us aware of the price Christ paid and the access we now have to God. Enabling Grace empowers us to live purposefully and serve effectively in God’s family and Kingdom.

Stay blessed and edified!

The Strife of Tongues: Thou Shall Condemn

“Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.” — Psalm 31:20. The strife of tongues is not just idle talk—it’s a spiritual weapon used to accuse, confuse, and discourage. But God promises divine shelter from its effects and gives His people authority to silence every accusing voice. In this article, uncover the spiritual depth behind harmful speech, how Satan manipulates words, and how believers are called not just to endure—but to condemn every tongue that rises against them in judgment.

The Priestly Mandate

Malachi 2:7 highlights the priest’s core duties: preserving God’s truth, guiding others, and faithfully delivering His message. As believers, we share this calling—to steward God’s wisdom and spread His knowledge with integrity and humility.

The Power of Collective Decision

(Genesis 1:26) Growth and true creativity are born from unity. From creation itself, God modeled the power of collective decision — a divine agreement that resulted to humanity. In the same way, when we come together in purpose and spirit, we creative a force that multiplies impact and sustains growth.
