Living in the Secret Place!

• By Gideon Adegunle

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
-Psalms 91:1 (KJV)

Introduction

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).
Songs like “I Enter the Holy of Holies” often paint the picture that we enter and leave God’s presence as though His presence were a distant realm accessible only for a brief moment in worship.

While such songs capture the reverence and awe of God’s holiness, the ultimate truth revealed in Christ is this: we do not visit God’s presence we live in it.

Through the finished work of Christ, believers have been permanently positioned in God’s presence. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), operating as kings and priests in a realm above all earthly powers.

This “secret place” is not accessed through feelings or fleeting worship experiences, but through intimacy with God and an ongoing Christ-centered consciousness.
True worship flows from the awareness of our unbroken union with Christ and our identity in Him.

1. Worship in Spirit and in Truth

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
– John 4:24

Worshiping in spirit and truth transcends rituals, traditions, or emotional highs.
It begins in the believer’s regenerated spirit and aligns with the truth of God’s Word.

It is not a momentary act but a lifestyle of consciousness being aware that Christ lives in us and we in Him.
Our worship becomes authentic when it reflects our identity as redeemed children who live daily in His presence.

2. The Holy of Holies and Continuous Presence

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
– Psalm 91:1

In the Old Covenant, only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies once a year.
But when Jesus died, “the veil of the temple was torn in two” (Matthew 27:51).
This symbolizes unrestricted, continuous access to God’s presence.

As New Covenant believers, we no longer “enter and exit” the presence of God we dwell there.
Through the blood of Jesus, we are welcome to live in the Holy of Holies daily (Hebrews 10:19–22).
Our relationship with God is not a visitation; it’s habitation.

3. Seated with Christ

“And raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
– Ephesians 2:6

This is not symbolic; it is spiritual reality.
To be seated with Christ means we occupy a place of authority, rest, and union.

We are not trying to reach God’s presence we are operating from it.
As kings and priests (Revelation 1:6), our position in Christ gives us access, stability, and power in the Spirit.
The key is awareness the more conscious we are of our seat in Him, the more victorious we live on earth.

4. Accessing God through Intimacy, Not Feelings

“Abide in Me, and I in you.”
– John 15:4

True access to God is born out of intimacy, not emotion.
Intimacy grows through prayer, meditation on the Word, and practicing His presence.

Feelings may fluctuate, but intimacy remains constant.
When worship depends on emotion, it fades; when it flows from relationship, it endures.

Sadly, many modern worship experiences emphasize emotional satisfaction rather than spiritual connection.
But genuine worship is Spirit-led, not sensation-driven.
It transforms us because it’s rooted in surrender and revelation letting His truth become our truth, and His Spirit renew our minds.

Even demons know God’s power, yet they do not submit to His will.
True worshipers surrender they yield their hearts to His presence, His purposes, and His truth.

5. Worship as a Lifestyle

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
– Romans 12:1

Worship is not an event; it is a way of life.
It’s not limited to songs, church gatherings, or moments of prayer it’s the continual offering of our lives to God.

Our thoughts, actions, and decisions are all expressions of worship when they align with His will.
We worship God through obedience, service, and devotion that reflects His character.

Worship is not an art that can be mastered it’s a life to be lived.

Conclusion

The secret things of God are revealed in His secret place.
True worship, led by the Holy Spirit, grants us access to the depths of God’s wisdom and power.

Only the Spirit of Truth can guide us into genuine worship that aligns with God’s heart.
Therefore, flee from worship rooted in self-effort or emotional striving. We cannot earn God’s presence we can only abide in it through His Spirit.

Let your worship be Spirit-inspired, truth-driven, and love-centered.
The secret place is not a destination it is your permanent dwelling in Christ.

Stay blessed, steadfast, and edified!

Mortal Men: Living With Eternity in Mind

Mortality feels like a curse. Our bodies weaken, our days expire, opportunities close, and life ends whether we are ready or not. How can beings with eternity in their hearts be trapped in fading bodies? Biblically, mortality is not the curse itself but death is the curse of sin. But for the believer, mortality now serves a redemptive purpose

We give voice to God’s Word through our faith and confession. When our hearts align with His, we create an environment where His promises can flourish. Remember, our words are vessels of divine authority Mary herself unlocked a miracle when she declared, ‘May your word to me be fulfilled.’.
