The Price of Falling

• By Gideon Adegunle

If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.
2 Peter 2:20

Introduction: What Does It Mean to Fall?

“The Price of Falling” speaks of the devastating consequences which are spiritual, emotional, and eternal that follow when a person turns away from truth, righteousness, and divine fellowship.

When a believer falls from grace, they are left exposed, stripped of divine protection and vulnerable to the schemes of the enemy. No longer covered by God’s favor, such a person becomes easy prey for manipulation, deception, and self-destruction.

The Weight of the Fall is from Power to Ruin

To fall from a seat of power is to lose more than position but it is to lose identity.

Consider a wealthy man reduced to poverty or a general stripped of rank. The fall does not just remove privilege, it wounds the soul. Power, esteem, and stability vanish overnight.

So it is with the spiritual fall.

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:6

When believers abandon this divine position, they descend into spiritual disgrace, emotional fracture, and exposure to demonic attack.

Power can change a person. But losing it without repentance can destroy them, unless grace intervenes.

Can a Believer Fall from Grace?

Yes, with grave consequences. Scripture does not treat it lightly.

1. Hebrews’ Warning on Apostasy

For it is impossible… if they fall away, to renew them again unto repentance.
Hebrews 6:4–6

This refers to those who have tasted of salvation and deliberately turn away. Neglecting salvation results in spiritual ruin.

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation…
Hebrews 2:3

2. Satan’s Fall: The Corruption of Light

Lucifer, once an anointed cherub, fell from grace due to pride.

I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
Luke 10:18

His fall came not from ignorance, but from rebellion. This is the same trap that threatens gifted believers who exalt self over God.

3. Israel in the Wilderness: Wasted Grace

They experienced miracles, manna, and deliverance, yet died in unbelief.

With most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
1 Corinthians 10:5

Three Consequences of Falling

1. Self-Destruction

The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways.
Proverbs 14:14

Falling away leads to spiritual confusion, sin, and eventually eternal death.

2. Loss of Identity

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour…
Matthew 5:13

The fallen lose purpose and influence. Their spiritual authority weakens.

3. Corruption and Deception

Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
2 Timothy 3:13

Sin becomes normalized. Their hearts grow hardened, and their spiritual state worsens.

The last state of that man is worse than the first.
Matthew 12:45

Conclusion: Is There Hope After a Fall?

Yes, if there is repentance. The way is to turn whole to Jesus and seek His Mercy.

Though a righteous man falls seven times, he shall rise again.
Proverbs 24:16

God’s mercy is still available to those who turn back. Grace doesn’t just lift us it restores us.

Hymnal Songs

Sound has always been a divine connector in the life of the Church. From creation to the second coming of Christ, God’s movements are marked by sound. The same spiritual energy that will awaken the dead in Christ resonates within hymns and songs of worship. These sacred sounds quicken our mortal bodies, align us with scriptural realities, and deepen our faith and convictions. This reminds us that every true song of worship echoes eternity.

The Significance of God’s Name and Covenant in the Life of a Believer

Let all who bear the name of the Lord live in a manner worthy of that name. The authority we possess as believers is not for self-glorification but for the honor of God. Enter into covenant with Him willingly, and walk in the power of His name.

Ihe ị na-emere m dị mma. (What you are doing for me is good.)

What has God, through Christ, done for you? This single question, when truly answered, has the power to transform your worship, your relationships, and your prayer life. It shifts your focus from what you can get from God to the astounding reality of what you already possess in Christ. You are not merely a beneficiary but a participant in His victory, called to walk in the authority of the One who has conquered every enemy of the past, present, and future.
